About The Publisher: Shavon Stewart

Hello! I’m Shavon Stewart, your local Macaroni KID Burlington-Hillsborough publisher, community connector, and proud mom of energetic, creative twins who inspire so much of what I do. I’m married to my wonderful husband, the University Archivist at North Carolina A&T State University, and our family proudly calls Burlington, North Carolina home.

My career has always centered around serving children, families, education, and community engagement. I began my professional journey as an Early Childhood Home Visitor with Head Start, supporting families and young children while learning firsthand the importance of early learning, family support, and building strong community connections.

I’m also a proud alumna of North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro. Over the years, I’ve worked as an academic librarian, helping students, faculty, and researchers access information, build knowledge, and connect with educational resources. I also served as an AmeriCorps volunteer with Black Child Development of Greensboro, tutoring children and supporting literacy initiatives within the community.

Today, I continue my passion for storytelling, education, and community through Macaroni KID Burlington-Hillsborough. As your local publisher, I love highlighting family-friendly events, local businesses, camps, activities, restaurants, parks, and resources that help families create meaningful memories together across Burlington, Hillsborough, Mebane, Graham, and surrounding communities.

You’ll often find my twins and me exploring local parks, attending community events, visiting libraries, enjoying festivals, supporting small businesses, and searching for fun family adventures throughout the area. If you see us out and about, please say hello!
